Chula Vista, CA, August 16, 2019 – Child Development Associates (CDA) celebrated the conclusion of its annual fundraiser for their Preschool Literacy Program- “Storytime!” The event took place at Hilltop Child Development Center in Chula Vista. Over 40 guests attended, among them donors and community partners who were recognized for their commitment to CDA’s programs.
Reading has been recognized as a critical component of a child’s future success, yet research shows that parents often lack the resources needed to develop healthy reading habits with their children at home. CDA has made it its mission to support families with literacy resources to encourage reading at an early age. “Storytime!” partners with parents, as a child’s first teacher, to develop and nurture their child’s love for reading.
“My daughter gets excited every time it’s “Storytime!” in class. She gets home and reads the book to her brothers” said a parent in CDA’s preschool program.
This year CDA placed a goal of $10,000 to provide all children at their three preschools with a new book each month to build their first home library. In the last 2 years, “Storytime!” has served over 485 children and provided 4,615 books.
