CDA Receives Cases of Diapers for Distribution to San Diego Families

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Bonita, CA, July 6, 2020 – Child Development Associates (CDA) received over 300 cases of diapers for distribution to San Diego families enrolled in CDA Alternative Payment Program at no cost. In partnership with San Diego for Every Child and First 5 Commission of San Diego, CDA is one of six organizations that has been selected to distribute over 1,200 cases of diapers to families across San Diego County.

With record numbers of individuals experiencing unemployment due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many local families are struggling financially. Diapers are a necessity for families with young children, but the expensive cost quickly adds up and diapers cannot be purchased with CalFresh or WIC benefits. The distribution, supported by the Jacob & Cushman San Diego Food Bank and the National Diaper Bank, will enable CDA to serve low-income families in need.

“We know families are struggling right now and we don’t want families to have to choose between food, paying bills and clean diapers for their children” said CDA President and CEO, Rick Richardson. “This is one of the ways CDA employees are coming together with other partners to meet the urgent needs of San Diego County families.”

Families will be required to complete an application to participate in CDA’s drive-thru diaper distribution event scheduled in July, 2020.

Families in need of diaper assistance not already participating in programming by CDA are encouraged to visit the San Diego Food Bank website or call 2-1-1, the county’s social services hotline. A 2-1-1 operator will provide locations and diaper distribution times closest to the caller’s area.
