Lifting Up Families Advocacy Day

CDA Visits Sacramento

On January 22, 2025, CDA proudly joined statewide and community partners, family child care providers, and parents in Sacramento to advocate for vital investments in child care and support services.

The day was focused on raising child care rates, strengthening critical safety net programs, and uplifting the needs of families and providers across California. Attendees had the opportunity to meet with legislators and their staff, sharing stories and data to underscore the importance of these resources for families’ success and well-being.

Legislative Champions and Shared Goals
Legislative champions addressed the group, reaffirming their commitment to:

  • Strengthening safety net programs.
  • Protecting progress and honoring promises made in previous legislative sessions.
  • Building supportive services for families in the 2025-26 budget.

The advocates emphasized that California’s lowest income working parents continue to face significant challenges, often unable to meet their children’s most basic needs.

Breaking the Cycle of Poverty
To help families succeed and break the cycle of poverty, it’s critical to resource programs that address essential needs such as:

  • Affordable, high-quality child care.
  • Access to nutritious food.
  • Secure and stable housing.
  • Comprehensive mental health services.

These investments aren’t just about economic stability—they’re about creating opportunities for children to thrive and families to build brighter futures. A big shout-out to our California Legislators and staff who met with us to learn about these important investments.
