Rosa Jimenez Awarded Charlene Tressler Memorial Scholarship

Each year Child Development Associates awards a scholarship to recognize and reward the academic advancement of an early childhood education or child development student.

The Charlene Tressler Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to honor Charlene, Child Development Associates’ founder, who passed away on March, 2011. The intent of this scholarship is to encourage the pursuit of her passion — to provide the highest quality early childhood education to all young children.

Our 2022-2023 scholarship recipient, Rosa Jimenez, is currently attending Point Loma Nazarene University to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Adolescent Development to become a speech pathologist.

Rosa was awarded a $2,500 academic scholarship for school tuition, books, or fees.

“Child Development Associates is proud to be able to support San Diego’s future leaders by easing the financial burden of pursuing a college education and helping local students advance their education in the early childhood field,” said Rick Richardson, CDA President & CEO. “The investment in the first 5 years of life will pay dividends in generations of children and families to follow.”

The Charlene Tressler Memorial Scholarship Fund is made possible with support from The San Diego Foundation Scholarship Fund. The scholarship cycle opens on January 2023.
